Kids are back in school! This comes as a relief to some parents I can imagine. This is my update for July and August. We saw numbers of attandance flucuate in July. We have a night of 30 then the next week we had a night of 3. The beautiful summer weather was sure to blame. We finished off July with a lot of hot dogs on the grill. We had a going away party for a young girl going back to Africa with her missionary family. Some of the young girls are friends with her and wanted to send her away right.
this is my June update for BYC. I am at home sweating in this 100 degree heat. I'd rather be swimming.
Anyway, BYC hosted the Harrisburg invasion motor cycle ride fundraiser June 5. It is always fun to show the place off to new people. We enjoyed four 3 foot subs from the Sunoco. What we didn't eat for lunch the kids at the BYC enjoyed that night. They love free food. I started hanging out at the Garage Door Skate Park in Terre Hill this month. I would like to see the local area youth centers working together. I met with the director a few times and found him to be like minded. Pray for unity. We share the same kids so I see cooperation as a plus for ministry.
What happened to May? I don't remember May at all. Are you sure there was a May?
Needless to say my May whizzed by without much notice. I know it is June already. It is hot. Sorry I am late on my update. Anyway, May was uneventful as far as big stuff going down. That is good news. I did get to get my hands dirty with the practical side of running a youth center. First week of May the men's room toilet rebelled against its nature and that was messy. I had to tell myself its all part of the job. I spend time hanging out with kids and dealing with toilets. I have had some very deep conversations this month with some of the youth. Topics like how could a loving God make a hell? What makes a person good? What does suicide do to those left behind? We continue to see new faces show up every week. With that another door to the town of Bowmansville is opened.
