Greetings from Ashland & Gordon Youth Centers,
December was a good month to say the least. We have now completed 5 years of ministry at both the Ashland & Gordon centers. Time flies when your having fun. From January of 2007 to today....it has been a good run with many great memories and many more to come......
Sunday Dec 11th, we ran the blue bus to town picking up about 20 teens for an afternoon of bowling in Pottsville and then on down to the Reading Airport for a delicious Christmas Dinner. I tried and tried but I could not beat Delbo at bowling. One great memory occurred when Nigel who kept getting gutter balls, finally put one down the middle and got a strike! Oh boy, the joy on his face was priceless. The teens did awesome and really enjoyed themselves. Some of the kids had bigger eyes than stomachs and we had some not feeling so well on the ride back home....all in all ..... good times. It made for a very long day for the Crossfire staff who traveled along on this trip. Many thanks for making a very wonderful day!
Greetings from Crossfire Youth Ministries,
The month of December has shown the reason to build your life/home on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ and to allow him bring joy, comfort and understanding into situations where it seems bleak.
The understanding of how precious and short life is was made very clear this month, as we lost 5 loved ones.
Rachel Rissler & her parents perished in a house fire about a 1/2 from our home. I have known Rachel for about 12 years. Providing transportation many a nights, sharing encouragement on nights she was feeling down and frustrated with life and family. Several of her siblings also attended Crossfire at the Smokestown firehall many years ago. We walked through the difficult time of her brothers death years ago. The joy of taking her along to Africa on a missions trip and watching her fall in love with the children. Having her help lead a bible study night. My wife was texting with her just a few hours before the fire. She will be deeply missed along with her parents.
